Practice Overview
The Law Office of Zachary
Margulis-Ohnuma handles complex state and federal
criminal cases in New York. We are high-energy,
client-focused and trial-oriented. We pride ourselves on
listening to clients and finding creative solutions to the
most challenging legal problems.
There is no such
thing as a routine criminal case and no two criminal cases are
the same. Typical cases we have handled have included white-collar crime, organized
crime, extortion, money laundering, child
pornography, gun possession and official misconduct. We are deeply
committed to meeting our ethical obligation of zealous
advocacy for every client we represent. The cases we
handle change our clients' lives: it is our job to make sure
that we get the best possible outcome that the law
permits. We do not rest until that is
achieved.
Although we are a small practice, the Law Office of Zachary Margulis-Ohnuma has the same legal resources available to it as larger firms. We frequently work with other carefully screened professionals including private investigators, forensic psychologists, accountants, interpreters and other attorneys. We have access to the latest electronic databases, including court documents and case data. We engage professional appellate printers, process servers, court services and computer professionals when needed. We are presently engaged in an important pro bono case, seeking justice for a Brooklyn man wrongly convicted in 1994 of murdering his mother, his 12-year-old sister and another 12-year-old girl.
If
you have been accused of a crime in New York State, please
call us at (212) 685-0999 or email us at info@zmolaw.com for
an immediate and thoughtful response. For more
information on criminal cases, please see the Criminal Process Information Center. For specific
information on white collar crime, visit White Collar Criminal Information. If you or
someone you love has been accused of a sex crime, go to Sex Crimes Information.
In
addition to criminal defense, we handle a small number of
select civil cases including commercial
litigation, immigration, civil rights and international human rights. We also
represent witnesses and potential witnesses in criminal and
civil cases who need advice on asserting their rights.
Most of our civil cases are either high-profile or involve
novel legal or factual issues. Some of them arise out of
criminal cases we have handled. As with our criminal
cases, we provide total focus and commitment to civil cases
that frequently have life-altering consequences.
