After an arrest, time is of the essence: Decisions made now can affect you and your family for the rest of your life. Choosing the right lawyer from the outset is critical. I am committed to offering the following to help defendants and potential defendants in criminal cases:
- Quick Response. I understand that time is of the essence when you need a criminal lawyer. I generally answer my own phone between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. When I can't, I call back right away.
- Free Consultation. I will meet with you at no charge to discuss your case. I will tell you (1) whether I think you need to hire a lawyer and (2) whether I think I am the right lawyer for you. In certain cases, I will provide referrals to other attorneys who are more suitable for your situation.
- Reasonable and Understandable Fees: All criminal defendants have a right to counsel, but legal representation is expensive. I set fees that are based on the complexity of the case and the amount of time I expect to spend working on it. If I think I am the right lawyer for your case, I will try to work with you to create a fee schedule that you can afford. I accept most major credit cards and provide a detailed engagement letter in most situations.
- Thorough Investigation: I will carefully investigate your case by listening to you, interviewing witnesses, reviewing court documents, and demanding information from the prosecutors. In some cases, I will work with a private investigator, forensic accountant, or other specialist to help investigate.
- Aggressive Negotiation or Trial: If you instruct me to, I will negotiate on your behalf to obtain a fair outcome. If negotiations fail, I will take your case to trial. If you are falsely accused, I will fight the accusation every step of the way until it is resolved.
